UConn women\u2019s basketball<\/a> sophomore Allie Ziebell<\/a> was crowned Big East Player of the Week<\/a> for the first time in her career, the conference announced Monday.<\/p>\n

Ziebell made history in the Huskies\u2019 97-39 rout of Xavier<\/a> on Wednesday, dropping a career-high 34 points on 10 made 3-pointers to tie UConn\u2019s single-game program record<\/a> shared by Hall of Famer Maya Moore, three-time NCAA champion Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and three-time All-American Katie Lou Samuelson. She also set a program record for most points scored by a player off the bench, and it was the Huskies\u2019 highest-scoring performance by any player this season. She also had three assists and two steals against the Musketeers.<\/p>\n

The sophomore guard was also one of five UConn players to score in double digits in the Huskies\u2019 96-66 rout of Tennessee on Sunday. She logged 10 points on 3-for-6 shooting with a pair of made 3-pointers, including an exclamation point in the last six seconds of the third quarter that capped a 14-0 UConn run.<\/p>\n

Ziebell is the third Huskies player to earn Big East Player of the Week in 2025-26, joining two-time winner Azzi Fudd<\/a> and six-time winner Sarah Strong<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Strong made the Big East honor roll and was also named the Naismith Women\u2019s College Player of the Week<\/a> after a pair of huge performances against Xavier and Tennessee. The All-American sophomore averaged 25.5 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks across UConn\u2019s pair of wins. Strong currently leads UConn in every major statistical category, and she is shooting just shy of 50\/40\/90 splits at 59.9% from the field, 39.1% on 3-pointers and 92.5% at the free throw line.<\/p>\n
