Why you shouldn’t take those DraftKings odds seriously

In a weird twist in the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade saga, DraftKings odds show the Chicago Bulls as the most likely suitor, even though no credible reports have even linked the Bulls to Antetokounmpo.

DraftKings is offering a bet on the team with which Giannis will play his next regular-season minute after Thursday’s trade deadline passes. Logically, the Milwaukee Bucks are the favorite at +110, implying it’s a little less than 50-50 that Antetokounmpo stays with the Bucks past the deadline. The Bulls, meanwhile, are the leader among the rest of the league at +300, giving them a roughly one-in-four chance of landing the Greek star.

DraftKings’ main account posted on X that since Sunday, the Bulls have moved from +4000 to +300 (and were +275 this morning).

Before Bulls fans get their hopes up, it’s worth explaining how these next-team bets tend to work.

For starters, most sportsbooks don’t offer this type of bet. For example, BetMGM and FanDuel don’t have a bet available on this. Also, when they are offered, the sportsbooks tend to put low maximum bet limits to minimize their risk to someone finding the information out before they do. Finally, compared to more traditional bets, the books are motivated to ensure the money that comes in remains balanced. With spreads or title odds, they will trust their own numbers within a certain range and be more resistant to big bets coming in.

The money bet on these markets is typically far less than any game so it doesn’t take as much to move the odds. DraftKings tweeted out information of a four-figure bet on Giannis to the Bulls, which could’ve been enough to move the market that way.

Giannis to Chicago is now down to +275

One bettor has a series of bets at various odds that would turn $1,075 into $22,575 if Giannis is traded to the Bulls before the deadline 👀 pic.twitter.com/xGrd8esXth

— DK Insights (@DKInsights_) February 2, 2026

As a point of comparison, the prediction markets aren’t as bullish on Chicago’s chances to land Antetokounmpo. Kalshi is giving the Bulls a 10 percent chance to acquire the Bucks’ star, while Polymarket has that number down at 7 percent. DraftKings is an outlier.

Perhaps a rash of Bulls fans got excited that the Antetokounmpo family bought an apartment building in Chicago, less than a mile and a half north of Wrigley Field. The family has other investments in Wisconsin and New York City, and one of Giannis’ younger brothers, Kostas, played for the G League’s Windy City Bulls in 2022 on a two-day contract.

In a weird twist in the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade saga, DraftKings odds show the Chicago Bulls as the…

[3775
7,103,329,102,121,3871,6,215
0":"post-578478","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-milwaukee-bucks","8":"tag-basketball","9":"tag-bucks","10":"tag-chicago-bulls","11":"tag-milwaukee","12":"tag-milwaukee-bucks","13":"tag-milwaukeebucks","14":"tag-nba","15":"tag-sports-betting
["GET
