Despite continuing to do nothing except win games, UConn men\u2019s basketball fell down a spot from No. 2 to No. 3 in the latest AP Top 25. The 21-1 Huskies are coming off of a statement victory in Omaha over Creighton and a close home win against Providence in Storrs.<\/p>\n
With Michigan picking up a big win on the road at Michigan State and at home against Nebraska, the Wolverines jumped the Huskies by a few votes to settle into the No. 2 spot and drop UConn down to third.<\/p>\n
St. John\u2019s remains the only other Big East team ranked in the poll this week, checking in at No. 22 ahead of Friday night\u2019s clash with the Huskies at Madison Square Garden. The 16-5 Red Storm have won seven-straight games after losing a heartbreaker to Providence and have been playing their best basketball as of late. Villanova is still the only other school in the conference to receive any votes.<\/p>\n
Arizona, UConn\u2019s only loss of the season, remains at No. 1 after defeating Arizona State over the weekend. The Huskies have four wins this season against teams currently ranked in the poll in No. 5 Illinois, No. 11 Kansas, No. 16 BYU and No. 17 Florida.<\/p>\n
The Huskies return to action this week on Tuesday as UConn hosts Xavier in Hartford for their first game of February and the aforementioned clash with No. 22 St. John\u2019s in New York City.<\/p>\n
Looking at NET rating, UConn jumped up one spot to No. 7 from last Monday. The Huskies are one of five teams in the country with at least five Quad One victories and a win percentage north of 80 percent in such games this season. Looking ahead to this next week, Xavier, No. 97 in NET, is considered a Quad Three opportunity while on the road at St. John\u2019s, No. 24 in NET, will be a Quad One game.
