The Charlotte Hornets<\/a> are now officially the hottest team in the league. With their win Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans<\/a>, Charlotte has won seven straight, breaking a tie with the New York Knicks<\/a> who are currently on a six-game streak.<\/p>\n

This streak has included a signature win against the San Antonio Spurs<\/a> Saturday and a 37-point blowout win versus the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That said, Monday’s win didn’t come without a little adversity. LaMelo Ball left the game<\/a> early with a cut on his head and the Hornets trailed by 22 points in the second quarter.<\/p>\n

However, when he returned, Ball ignited the Hornets’ offense as they outscored New Orleans 53-31 in the second half and held on to a seven-point win.<\/p>\n

Ball finished with a team-high 24 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Additionally, Charlotte got a boost off the bench from Grant Williams who finished with a season-high 16 points on 5-for-7 shooting with nine rebounds.<\/p>\n

Following the game, Williams had high praise<\/a> for his team and pushed back on the notion that the Hornets only win in blowout fashion. “We’ve done it in a lot of different ways, whether it’s close games, blowouts, now coming back from behind and that shows we’re not just a front-running team. We are competitors. We are consistent and we gotta do our job no matter what the game dictates.”<\/p>\n

Although he missed 40 games at the beginning of the year due to injury rehab, Williams has proved to be a valuable asset to Charlotte’s rotation following his return.<\/p>\n
