The Memphis Grizzlies received three first-rounders and overhauled their roster by trading Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
ESPN’s Shams Charania<\/a> first reported the trade.<\/p>\n The deal sent Jackson, John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. to the Jazz, according to Charania.<\/p>\n The Grizzlies received Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and the draft picks, per Charania.<\/p>\n ESPN’s Bobby Marks provided a breakdown of the contracts being moved in the deal:<\/p>\n The Grizzlies also created a $28.8 million trade exception as part of the deal, per Charania and Marks<\/a>. That’s the largest in NBA history, according to Marks<\/a>.<\/p>\n The draft capital being moved included the most favorable 2027 first-rounder owned by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves or Jazz, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2027 first-rounder and the Phoenix Suns’ 2031 first-rounder, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Grizzlies now hold 12 first-rounders over the next seven years, tying them with the Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder, per Marks<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Jazz could now build around a starting lineup of Keyonte George, Ace Bailey, Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Walker Kessler.<\/p>\n The Grizzlies will need to determine both who is replacing Jackson as starting center as well as whether injured point guard Ja Morant will return to Memphis after the deadline.<\/p>\n ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel<\/a> reported shortly after the Jackson trade that the Grizzlies have “emerged as a potential suitor” for Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poetl.<\/p>\n Poetl is signed this season at a $19.5 million salary that would fit under the Grizzlies’ newly-created trade exception, per Spotrac<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Athletic’s Sam Amick<\/a> reported Tuesday that the Raptors are looking to trade for Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis, but that Toronto would need to find a way to move out Poetl before completing a potential deal.<\/p>\n Amick reported that the Kings aren’t interested in Poetl, who is signed through the 2029-30 season and has more than $100 million remaining on his contract, per Spotrac<\/a>.<\/p>\n Working out a deal to send Poetl to Memphis could potentially allow the Raptors to free up space for Sabonis.<\/p>\n
