{"id":582248,"date":"2026-02-04T17:14:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T17:14:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/582248\/"},"modified":"2026-02-04T17:14:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T17:14:12","slug":"pistons-waive-isaac-jones-hoops-rumors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/582248\/","title":{"rendered":"Pistons Waive Isaac Jones | Hoops Rumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Pistons waived forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jonesis01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-04_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Isaac Jones<\/a> in order to clear the roster space necessary to officially completed their <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/02\/jaden-ivey-headed-to-bulls-in-three-team-trade.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">three-team trade<\/a> with Chicago and Minnesota, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KeithSmithNBA\/status\/2019052774709702820\" rel=\"nofollow\">tweets<\/a> Keith Smith of Spotrac.<\/p>\n<p>An undrafted free agent out of Washington State, Jones played well in a modest role for the Kings as a rookie in 2024\/25, beginning the year on a two-way contract and earning a promotion to a standard deal last March. However, Sacramento cut him this past November to make room on its roster for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/achiupr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-04_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Precious Achiuwa<\/a>, at which time Detroit claimed the 25-year-old off waivers.<\/p>\n<p>While Jones was on Detroit\u2019s roster for nearly three months, he appeared in just one game for the Pistons, logging two garbage-time minutes. He has spent most of this season with the Motor City Cruise, the Pistons\u2019 G League affiliate. In 26 NBAGL outings, he has averaged 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.3 blocks in 28.1 minutes per game, making 55.7% of his field goal attempts.<\/p>\n<p>Jones\u2019 salary was non-guaranteed when the Pistons claimed him in November but was locked in after January 7, when the team opted not to release him at the league-wide salary guarantee deadline. Unless he\u2019s claimed off waivers again this time around, Detroit will be on the hook for Jones\u2019 full $1,955,377 cap hit.<\/p>\n<p>The trade the Pistons officially finalized on Tuesday night sent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/i\/iveyja01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-04_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jaden Ivey<\/a> to Chicago, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/huertke01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-04_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kevin Huerter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/saricda01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-02-04_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dario Saric<\/a> landing in Detroit.
