The Los Angeles Clippers traded Chris Paul to the Toronto Raptors in a three-team trade deal on Wednesday. The trade also sent Ochai Agbaji and cash to the Brooklyn Nets, according to information sources told ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania<\/a>.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The Raptors are reportedly not requiring Paul to report to Toronto until after Thursday\u2019s NBA trade deadline. Toronto could still trade Paul to another team until 12:00 pm PST.<\/p>\n Although the Clippers did not receive a player, draft pick or cash in the trade, the deal helped Los Angeles clear a roster spot and save $7 million in tax money. The Clippers cut Paul on Dec. 3, and he has been taking up a spot in the roster ever since.<\/p>\n The Clippers received some criticism for parting ways with the future Hall of Famer. Paul\u2019s leadership style reportedly clashed with the franchise\u2019s goals, which ultimately led to the Clippers cutting ties with Paul.<\/p>\n Over the summer, Paul announced he would retire after the 2025-26 season. He intended to finish his career with the Clippers, a team he spent six of his best NBA seasons with (2011-17). But Paul eventually said he was at peace with the franchise\u2019s decision and was looking forward to whatever was next in his career.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m actually at peace with everything,\u201d Paul said. \u201cMore than anything, I\u2019m excited about being around and getting a chance to play a small role in whatever anything looks like next.\u201d<\/p>\n The Raptors are ranked sixth in the Eastern Conference this season with a 30-22 record.
