Anthony Davis\u2019 2026 run with the Wizards might be over before it started. <\/p>\n

The new Washington star is expected to miss the rest of the regular season so he can recover from both hand and groin issues, NBA insider Chris Haynes reported Friday night. <\/p>\n

One year after Davis was sent from the Lakers to the Mavericks for Luka Doncic in a bombshell trade, he was sent to Washington from Dallas<\/a> in a swap involving seven other players and five draft picks. <\/p>\n

Davis, 32, has averaged 20.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game this year \u2014 when he\u2019s actually been on the court. He\u2019s played in just 20 contests and has not suited up since Jan. 8 while dealing with the hand injury.<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Athletic<\/a> published Friday, Davis said he is happy with what he\u2019s seen so far in Washington. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe visit\u2019s been great,\u201d he said. \u201cThey definitely welcomed me with open arms, spent some time with [governor] Ted [Leonsis] and [Monumental president of media & new enterprises] Zach [Leonsis]. It\u2019s totally different from what they make it seem. I know it\u2019s like, oh, they have the stigma of they\u2019re not a good team. I haven\u2019t seen the practice facility yet, but the arena is top-notch, world-class for sure. Seen the chefs and how they take care of the families. It\u2019s been great.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Wizards are near the basement of the Eastern Conference at 14-36, but already made one splashy move earlier this year when they acquired Trae Young in a trade<\/a> with the Hawks in January. Young, like Davis, has not played a game for his new team.<\/p>\n

Next season could be interesting for Washington, with Davis under contract for at least one more year, while Young has a player option for 2026-27.<\/p>\n

Whether or not Young stays in D.C., he welcomed Davis on Wednesday with a throwback picture featuring the two of them together.<\/p>\n

\u201cInevitable !\u201d Young wrote.<\/p>\n
