The New Orleans Pelicans have waived guard Dalen Terry, the team announced Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Pelicans acquired Terry from the New York Knicks on Thursday in the Jose Alvarado trade yesterday. It\u2019s the second move in two days for Terry. He was traded from the Chicago Bulls to the Knicks on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

With the move, the Pelicans will now likely sign Bryce McGowens to a standard contract with the open roster spot. McGowens has been playing on a two-way contract. Players on a two-way contract can play in only 50 games. McGowens has played in 29 games for the Pels this season. The Pelicans will have 28 games remaining after Friday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.<\/p>\n

McGowens has shown plenty of promise this season<\/a>. He is averaging 7.6 points, 2 rebounds and 1.3 assists.<\/p>\n

Pelicans interim head coach James Borrego has been pleased with McGowens’ play.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBryce has been steady all year,\u201d Borrego said in December. \u201cHe\u2019s earned these minutes. He\u2019s not been given this time. He\u2019s earned it. Every time he\u2019s on the floor, good things happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Terry spent all 3\u00bd seasons of his career with the Bulls, who selected him with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2022 draft. The 6-foot-7 small forward started\u00a0 just seven of 204 games for the Bulls. He averaged 3.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in Chicago.<\/p>\n
