The Boston Celtics have made their second move of the week ahead of Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline.<\/p>\n

The C’s have traded Chris Boucher to the Utah Jazz, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Thursday<\/a>. The Celtics also sent a 2027 second-round pick (from Denver) to the Jazz in this deal, per The Athletic’s Tony Jones<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Boston signed Boucher as a free agent last offseason after he spent the previous seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors.<\/p>\n

Boucher was never able to earn a consistent role in head coach Joe Mazzulla’s rotation and only played in nine games.<\/p>\n

Trading Boucher and his $2.3 million expiring contract gets the Celtics closer to being under the luxury tax line (they’re just $3.6 million above it after this trade), and it also opens a roster spot in case the team wants to make another move before the deadline.<\/p>\n
