The Los Angeles Clippers<\/a> are certainly getting younger.<\/p>\n

After trading away Chris Paul and James Harden before the NBA trade deadline, the Clippers have now signed a well-traveled 26-year old guard to a free agent contract.<\/p>\n

The deal, reported Saturday by NBA insider Jake Fischer<\/a>, is a 10-day contract for Dalano Banton.<\/p>\n

Banton was a second-round pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Raptors<\/a> out of Nebraska.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-8 “big guard” spent his first two NBA seasons with the Raptors.<\/p>\n

Banton played 95 games for Toronto, averaging 3.7 points and 1.4 assists per game.<\/p>\n

He then had a 24-game stint with the Boston Celtics<\/a> in which he only played 7.1 minutes per game.<\/p>\n

Banton has since spent the last 97 games of his NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers<\/a> (although he hasn’t played at all at the NBA level in 2025-26).<\/p>\n

Banton put up 10.9 points and 2.8 assists per game with Portland.<\/p>\n

He’s a career 30.4% 3-point shooter, which is part of what holds Banton back.<\/p>\n

But at his age and with his length at the guard position, he adds a different dimension to an NBA rotation.<\/p>\n

He may run out of a roster spot when Darius Garland is healthy for the Clippers, but for now, Banton will try to prove that he belongs at the NBA level.<\/p>\n
