The reason he\u2019s been on television over the past quarter of a century can be attributed to this quality of his. Kevin Johnson, his former Suns teammate, spoke on this ad nauseum on the Club520 podcast.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-2\" class=\"data-event\">Aside from speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/thesportsrush.com\/tag\/charles-barkley\/\" data-utm_source=\"article\" data-utm_medium=\"content\" data-utm_campaign=\"link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chuck\u2019s<\/a> nightlife shenanigans, Johnson kept his name in high regard. He expressed his distaste for Shaq and Kenny having bragging rights over Chuck due to them having a championship.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-3\" class=\"data-event\">\u201c[It] pisses me off every time I see it on TV,\u201d said Johnson, claiming Barkley deserved a title and that he\u2019d exchange his own title to bestow it upon Chuck in a heartbeat.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-4\" class=\"data-event\">This conversation then divulged into another anecdote from KJ where he recalled Chuck discussing with his family on whether he should vote Republican and back George Bush. \u201cYou can\u2019t vote for Bush. He\u2019s for the rich people,\u201d yelled out his family.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-5\" class=\"data-event\">Chuck\u2019s response <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/xEzc6flLAGM?si=7wE2JoafvqkHKpCN&amp;t=344\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-utm_source=\"article\" data-utm_medium=\"content\" data-utm_campaign=\"link\">according<\/a> to Johnson? \u201cBeg your pardon? I\u2019m rich now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-6\" class=\"data-event\">It\u2019s unclear if he did eventually vote for Bush. However, it should be noted that in 2015 he revealed that he\u2019s always voted Democratic. He\u2019s also let it be known that he thinks the entirety of the political sphere is a sham.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-7\" class=\"data-event\">\u201cAll politics is rich people screwing poor people. Poor people are too stupid to know they\u2019re just chess pieces in a game,\u201d said Barkley in 2016.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-8\" class=\"data-event\">While Chuck is known for making heavy statements such as this, he can get away with it for the most part due to his lovable personality. This is what Kevin Johnson was ultimately talking about: Chuck\u2019s likability as a person.<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-9\" class=\"data-event\">\u201cHe\u2019s not afraid to take a stand on things that may not be politically correct. His role model growing up was Muhammed Ali. And Charles is the modern-day Muhammed Ali. He just has this gift of likability and you just root for him whether you agree with him or not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-type=\"content\" data-variant=\"p\" id=\"article-content-block-10\" class=\"data-event\">Barkley\u2019s outspoken nature has earned him a great deal of cache in consumers\u2019 minds. He does hold a certain level of influence and he recognizes that.
