Brooklyn Nets<\/a> guard Nolan Traore\u0301 registered his first career double-double on Monday, and the rookie earned praise from coach Jordi Ferna\u0301ndez afterward.<\/p>\n

Traore\u0301 finished with 13 points, 13 assists, three rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot in a 123-115 win over the Chicago Bulls<\/a> at the Barclays Center. He shot 5-of-11 from the field and was a plus-17 in 31 minutes, 32 seconds of action.<\/p>\n

The 19th overall pick is the seventh rookie in franchise history to record a point-assist double-double and the first since Terrence Williams had 14 points and 14 assists on April 3, 2010. He is the third with at least 13 points and 13 assists in a game.<\/p>\n

“It was outstanding,” Ferna\u0301ndez said of his decision-making<\/a>. “You see 13 assists to three turnovers. He touched the paint constantly. His speed is a factor, but he was always under control. If he had to keep his dribble, he made the right play over and over and over, so that was great to see.”<\/p>\n

Said Traore\u0301: “You have to credit to my teammates: They set good screens; (Nic) Clax set a lot of good screens. It opens up the court and I can make decisions. Hopefully, I make the right one.”<\/p>\n

Traore\u0301 is averaging seven points, 3.4 assists and 1.6 rebounds while shooting 32.6% from 3-point range in 30 appearances. He is seventh among all rookies in assist average and is one of five first-year players to dish out at least 10 assists in a game this season.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old has started the last seven games for Ferna\u0301ndez, averaging 11 points, 5.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds on 33.3% shooting from beyond the arc. He has showcased his court vision, along with his ability to attack in the paint and spread the floor over that span.<\/p>\n

Traore\u0301 played sparingly to begin the season, but he has seen a larger role lately as the team takes a closer look at him. His teammates have noticed him take a step forward.<\/p>\n

“He reminds me a little bit of Dennis Schro\u0308der, how he was always able to get in the paint at will,” said Claxton<\/a>, who finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds. “He has been in the league for 10-plus years. Even though Nolan is in his first year, he is learning on the fly, being thrown into the fire.
