As the Memphis Grizzlies deal with injuries and adjust to life after the trade deadline, former Tennessee basketball standout Jahmai Mashack has been getting an opportunity in the NBA. So far, he\u2019s made the absolute most of it.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Mashack had his best game yet. Despite playing minutes at center while standing at just 6-foot-3, he\u2019s been effective on both ends. In a 114-113 loss to the Golden State Warriors, he posted a career-high 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field and 1-for-2 from range. He also contributed two rebounds, an assist and two steals. He played 22 minutes and had a plus\/minus of 0.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Grizzlies named him the Player of the Game. His 17 points only trailed Ty Jerome\u2019s 19 points for the team-high in the game.<\/p>\n

This is now the fourth game this month in the NBA for Mashack. He is on a two-way contract, meaning he splits time between the NBA and G-League. In those four games, he\u2019s averaging 23.8 minutes per night and has made one start. In that span, he\u2019s averaging 8.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game. He is shooting 51.9% from the field and 33.3% from distance.<\/p>\n

In his entire rookie season, Mashack has played in 11 games. In an average of 10.9 minutes per night, he\u2019s averaging 3.5 points, 0.9 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.4 steals. He is shooting 45.7% from the field and 33.3% from three.<\/p>\n

Next, Mashack and the Grizzlies will head to Denver to play the Nuggets. Tip-off on Wednesday, Feb. 11, is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. This will mark a fifth-straight road game for the team, as well, with Mashack yet to play in Memphis in this recent call-up to the NBA.<\/p>\n
