After leading the Warriors to a 114-113 victory<\/a> with 17 points on Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies, guard Pat Spencer reflected on his friendship with teammate Gui Santos.<\/p>\n \u201cMan, I\u2019m pumped for Gui,\u201d Spencer told reporters Monday. \u201cWe\u2019ve spent so much time together. Hiking back and forth from Santa Cruz to dinners, to just getting to know each other off the court.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s pretty stressful. I mean, this league, I think, moves fast. You lose teammates as time goes on, but we\u2019ve been here from the jump together. Our first year here was together, so it\u2019s pretty special. I\u2019m really happy for him.\u201d<\/p>\n Spencer and Santos both spent time developing their game with the G League\u2019s Santa Cruz Warriors during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.<\/p>\n This season, both players have been key contributors for Golden State, where Spencer has averaged 16 points in his last four games, and Santos has averaged 15 points in his last seven games.<\/p>\n The Warriors signed Spencer to an NBA contract<\/a> for the rest of the 2025-26 season, rewarding the energizer Golden State has needed for the last few years.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m always happy to see a guy like Pat get an extended contract with the team because he deserves it,\u201d Santos told reporters Saturday<\/a> after the Warriors\u2019 105-99 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.<\/p>\n \u201cI can see that he works really hard every day, and you can see on the court. You can see when we play at home, he gets in the game, and the defense goes crazy. Everybody loves him. He\u2019s just a great guy to be around and a great player.\u201d<\/p>\n With the team stuck with its roster for the remainder of the season, the Warriors will rely on Spencer and Santos to help push for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.<\/p>\n
