After trailing by as many as 17 points, Golden State closed the game on an 11-0 run, fueled by a balanced effort that saw seven Warriors finish in double figures.

That collective effort showed up on the final possession. Warriors center Al Horford missed the initial attempt but relentlessly battled on the glass, keeping the play alive before Santos stepped in to finish the sequence with the game-winner.

Following the win, Santos and Horford broke down the chaotic final possession that put Golden State back in the win column.

Right now, that kind of hustle from a group still working to find its rhythm after a week of injuries, roster changes, and uncertainty around the trade deadline is exactly what Golden State needed.

They don’t need perfect. They need players willing to dive into chaos and create the kind of momentum the rest of the group can feed off.

On Monday night, in a one-point game with everything breaking down, Santos and Horford delivered exactly that.

For more on this and other news around the NBA, here is our latest news round-up for Tuesday, February 10th:

Warriors News:Al Horford shows young Warriors how to get it done in comeback win vs. Grizzlies | NBC Sports Bay Area

The Grizzlies on the final possession had a 21-year-old, 22-year-old, two 23-year-olds and a 25-year-old on the floor. The Warriors used a 22-year-old, two 23-year-olds, a 27-year-old, and the 39-year-old Horford.

Somehow, the oldest of the bunch was the one outworking his competition to give the Warriors every extra chance at a win.

Horford, with two hands, forcefully secured the ball tipped to him from De’Anthony Melton winning his jump ball, grabbed his missed layup, went to tip it in, and grabbed that as well. Then, he held on to the ball with two Grizzlies swiping at it, fell to the floor, and still found Santos right there for an acrobatic game-winning layup.

Warriors’ Pat Spencer’s rise to the NBA fueled by competitive fire: ‘I go apes—‘ | The Athletic

The answer was another reminder of why the Warriors took a chance on him in the first place. Spencer plays with a permanent chip on his shoulder. As the team notes in its media guide, this is a man who wears the No. 61 because he wore No. 7 in lacrosse and 6+1=7.
