Miami explored plenty ahead of last Thursday\u2019s deadline. It just didn\u2019t like what it was hearing.<\/p>\n
According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald<\/a>, the Heat were not offered a first-round pick for Andrew Wiggins<\/a>, Norman Powell<\/a>, or Tyler Herro<\/a>.<\/p>\n Jackson adds that Miami could\u2019ve landed a pair of second-rounders in a Wiggins deal, but the front office didn\u2019t see enough upside there to justify moving him.<\/p>\n As for Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a>, Miami remains interested. That hasn\u2019t changed. What did become clear, however, is that Milwaukee wasn\u2019t exactly open for business.<\/p>\n Jackson reports the Bucks simply rejected Miami\u2019s offer without presenting a counter or outlining what it would take to move Giannis. No back-and-forth. No negotiating lane.<\/p>\n The Heat only had two tradable first-round picks at the deadline, but Jackson says there was a path to acquiring a third and Miami was willing to do it if that\u2019s what it took. Even then, it wouldn\u2019t have been enough.<\/p>\n Thunder<\/p>\n Monday marked a significant milestone for Nikola Topic<\/a>.<\/p>\n After missing his entire rookie season with a torn ACL and then undergoing treatment for testicular cancer<\/a> this fall, Topic made his G League debut Monday with the Oklahoma City Blue. The 20-year-old Serbian finished with seven points and seven assists in 16 minutes.<\/p>\n Thunder coach Mark Daigneault didn\u2019t downplay what it meant.<\/p>\n \u201cGreat accomplishment,\u201d Daigneault said, via The Associated Press<\/a>. \u201cHis mental toughness, maturity, resilience. He hasn\u2019t played much basketball in two years, goes through rehab, then chemotherapy. For him to get back on the court is unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n Bulls<\/p>\n More help is coming for Chicago\u2019s backcourt.<\/p>\n According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times<\/a>, Josh Giddey<\/a> and Tre Jones<\/a> are expected back shortly after the All-Star break. Both guards are running at full speed and doing three-on-three work, per coach Billy Donovan<\/a>.<\/p>\n With the Bulls evaluating several new pieces, there\u2019s no rush.
