The Patrick Dumont and Miriam Adelson families, Mavericks majority owners, said the team is \u201cnot for sale and the families look forward to expanding their ownership stake over time<\/a>\u201d amid reports of minority owner Mark Cuban\u2019s interest<\/a> in buying back a majority stake, according to Brad Townsend of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Cuban said that \u201cany sale scenario\u201d from the families \u201cseems far-fetched.\u201d Cuban, in a statement, said, \u201cI don\u2019t see them selling.\u201d The possibility of a sale is \u201cat best hypothetical.\u201d In December 2023, the Adelson and Dumont families purchased a majority 69% stake<\/a> of the Mavericks from Cuban and multiple minority investors at a $3.8B valuation. Cuban retained a 27% stake in the franchise, but a \u201cprovision in the sale agreement\u201d gives the Adelson and Dumont families \u201cthe option to buy all but 7% of Cuban\u2019s stake within the first four years of their ownership.\u201d Wednesday\u2019s statement\u202fmakes it clear that Adelson-Dumont \u201cintends to lessen Cuban\u2019s stake prior to the December 2027 deadline.\u201d Cuban said that he \u201cknew nothing of the unnamed potential investors\u201d until he was told of them by NBA insider Marc Stein. An NBA official with knowledge of team ownership machinations said that \u201cthere\u2019s never been any indication the Adelson-Dumont families want to sell part of the Mavericks\u201d (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 2\/11<\/a>).<\/p>\n
