{"id":599456,"date":"2026-02-12T19:18:19","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T19:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/599456\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T19:18:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T19:18:19","slug":"spurs-star-duo-too-much-in-126-113-win-over-curry-less-golden-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/599456\/","title":{"rendered":"Spurs\u2019 star duo too much in 126-113 win over Curry-less Golden State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/empiresportsmedia.com\/category\/warriors\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/empiresportsmedia.com\/category\/warriors\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golden State Warriors\u2019<\/a> 126-113 loss to the Spurs was less about effort and more about their lack of star power. <\/p>\n<p>For a half and most of the third quarter, the Warriors\u2019 tempo, spacing, and crisp decision-making set the tone, to many viewers\u2019 surprise. <\/p>\n<p>Golden State was up 67-63 at the end of the first half, behind elite execution and defensive connectivity. <\/p>\n<p>Overall, the Warriors generated 37 assists to just 11 turnovers while six Warriors players scored in double figures. <\/p>\n<p>A clear indicator of systemic health and a club that\u2019s bought into the team\u2019s goal, despite the loss, the foundation of Golden State looks strong.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Draymond has a big night against Wemby<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"858\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/NBA-San-Antonio-Spurs-at-Golden-State-Warriors-28214595.jpg\" alt=\"NBA: San Antonio Spurs at Golden State Warriors\" class=\"wp-image-413973\"  \/>Credit: Eakin Howard-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>The turning point came midway through the third quarter. <\/p>\n<p>Golden State stretched the lead to 16, largely fueled by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/greendr01.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/greendr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Draymond Green\u2019s<\/a> edge on both ends. <\/p>\n<p>Green delivered a masterclass in competitive intensity: 17 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists while defending <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zWj512BmTiY\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zWj512BmTiY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Victor Wembanyama<\/a> with physicality and veteran savvy.  <\/p>\n<p>He disrupted entry angles, denied Wembanyama on the boards, and ignited transition opportunities. <\/p>\n<p>Green took this matchup personally, and it showed. <\/p>\n<p>Given that Green was on the All-NBA defensive first team last season, this upcoming stretch of games after the All-Star break may see him make waves again and be named to the All-NBA defensive team at 36 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Duo of Fox and Wemby will be a problem <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"858\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/NBA-San-Antonio-Spurs-at-Golden-State-Warriors-28216436-1.jpg\" alt=\"NBA: San Antonio Spurs at Golden State Warriors\" class=\"wp-image-413976\"  \/>Credit: Eakin Howard-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>Star power eventually tilted the math in San Antonio\u2019s favor. <\/p>\n<p>Wembanyama settled in and finished with 26 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, punishing late switches and finding rhythm against smaller matchups. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/article\/aaron-fox-curry-brand-just-032150774.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/article\/aaron-fox-curry-brand-just-032150774.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">De\u2019Aaron Fox<\/a> compounded the pressure with 27 points and eight assists, consistently hitting momentum shots and beating the defense to the rim. <\/p>\n<p>Once San Antonio\u2019s stars began to shine, Golden State\u2019s margin evaporated.
