Kristaps Porzingis<\/a> has yet to make his debut for Golden State Warriors<\/a>. The Warriors sent Jonathan Kuminga<\/a> and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks<\/a> in exchange for Porzingis, but they have yet to see him in action.<\/p>\n

Porzingis is still dealing with an Achilles injury that has kept him out for more than a month now. The last time the 7-foot-2 big man played was Jan. 7. Porzingis made 17 appearances (12 starts) for Atlanta this season, averaging 17.1 points on 45.7% shooting, 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 blocks in 24.3 minutes per contest. The former No. 4 overall pick also knocked down 1.8 triples per game on a 36% clip.<\/p>\n

Porzingis\u2019 stint in Atlanta turned out to be brief. He joined the Hawks in the offseason via a three-team trade<\/a> involving his former team, the Boston Celtics<\/a>, and the Brooklyn Nets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Porzingis is expected to bring some much-needed height to Golden State\u2019s undersized frontcourt. The Latvian is also a legitimate threat from deep, allowing him to further stretch the floor for the Warriors.<\/p>\n

At this point, however, there is still no guarantee when Golden State will see what Porzingis can bring to the table. Speaking to reporters following the Warriors\u2019 126-113 loss to the San Antonio Spurs<\/a> on Wednesday, head coach Steve Kerr shared an update on Porzingis\u2019 status.<\/p>\n

\u201cKristaps played today and was moving better than yesterday,” Kerr said<\/a>. “Seemed to be in a good rhythm. … He looked good. We’ll just see how it plays out.”<\/p>\n

The fact that Prozingis is progressing well in his road to recovery is a good sign. Nevertheless, the Warriors have not provided a firm timetable for his return. As Kerr said, the team intends to take a wait-and-see approach on its new big man.<\/p>\n

Porzingis\u2019 next chance to play will be after the NBA<\/a> All-Star break. The Warriors host the Celtics at Chase Center on Feb. 19. That would be an ideal debut date for the 30-year-old, as he gets a chance to face off against his former team.<\/p>\n
