Apparently not even God\u2019s house is safe from angry parlay bettors.<\/p>\n
Houston Rockets star Fred VanVleet appeared this week on the \u201cClub 520 Podcast.\u201d<\/a> During the episode, VanVleet shared a wild story about being confronted by a bettor \u2026 while he was at a church service.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Internet don\u2019t bother me,\u201d said VanVleet. \u201cIt\u2019s the in-person one you got to be careful for. I had somebody run down on me in church \u2026 \u2018N\u2014a you f\u2013ked up my parlay.\u2019 In church. I said, \u2018Damn.\u2019 [It was for] $3,000 \u2026 I couldn\u2019t believe it. But I mean it\u2019s real out here\u201d<\/p>\n The 31-year-old VanVleet is in his third year as a member of the Rockets. Prior to that, he was an NBA champion in 2019 as well as an All-Star in 2021 with the Toronto Raptors.<\/p>\n Unfortunately, VanVleet is out for the entire 2025-26 NBA season after suffering a torn ACL during an offseason workout in late September. Thus, the story that he told about the angry bettor in church was obviously from a previous season.<\/p>\n With the entire sports world, particularly the NBA, having embraced legalized betting with open arms, these kinds of confrontations have unfortunately become all too common.
