Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons<\/a> have absolutely crushed through the first 53 games of the NBA<\/a> season, as their 40-13 record is the best in the Eastern Conference and second best in the entire NBA.<\/p>\n

Cunningham, 24, has been the catalyst of the team’s strong season and recently earned the first NBA All-Star Game start of his young career, just one year after making the game for the first time in his career. The former No. 1 overall pick is averaging 23.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 9.6 assists, while shooting 46.2% from the field.<\/p>\n

In addition to excelling on the court, Cunningham is also making some pretty significant moves off it.<\/p>\n

As reported on Thursday by ESPN’s Shams Charania, Cunningham became a minority owner of the MLB<\/a>‘s Texas Rangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Detroit Pistons All-Star and Arlington, Texas native Cade Cunningham has purchased a minority ownership stake of his hometown MLB team, the Texas Rangers, he told ESPN,“<\/a>wrote<\/a> Charania.<\/p>\n

It’s unclear at this time how much of the team he owns, but it is worth noting that Cunningham is in the first year of his five-year extension<\/a> with the Pistons. He is set to make over $46 million this season and will end up making over $61 million in his final year of the deal. He also has a deal with Nike that will see him receive a signature shoe.<\/p>\n

Cunningham is an Arlington, Texas native and even threw out a first pitch ahead of one of the team’s games this past July.<\/p>\n

While he isn’t the most vocal star, Cunningham is clearly making sure his financial future is set.<\/p>\n
