The Noblesville Boom, the G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers, are without a president of business operations for the second time in six months.<\/p>\n

Ryan Grant left his position in January, league sources told Fieldhouse Files.<\/p>\n

Grant did not return multiple messages, but sources said the pull to return home to Des Moines, Iowa, became too strong.<\/p>\n

Grant previously served as team president of the Iowa Wolves \u2014 the G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves\u2014 from 2017 to 2023. The team is based in Des Moines.<\/p>\n

According to his LinkedIn page, Grant has since launched Corner 3, described as \u201ca consulting firm specializing in marketing and sales strategies, sports marketing, and event management and production.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grant was hired in the fall after Tim Bawmann, who had served as team president since 2016, resigned in August.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo work for Pacers Sports and Entertainment is like a dream,\u201d Grant told me in November. \u201cThey are a fantastic organization and a great group. And so it was a no-brainer for me to move into this opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a pivotal time for the franchise. The team recently completed a full rebrand \u2014 from the Indiana Mad Ants to the Noblesville Boom<\/a> \u2014 and now plays home games at the newly opened, 3,400-seat venue:\u00a0The Arena at Innovation Mile in Noblesville.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cOpening up this building, it\u2019s a fantastic building,\u201d Grant said in November. \u201cIt\u2019s a great venue for basketball.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 If we can sell this thing out and we have all the enthusiasm around it, we saw it with the open scrimmage. We weren\u2019t anticipating that many people, and turned around having 1,500 people in the building for an open scrimmage, for a free event to watch our guys practice. I mean, it\u2019s fantastic. This is great, it\u2019s awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Boom\u2019s primary business contact with Pacers Sports & Entertainment, Todd Taylor, also left his role in November<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Chris Taylor continues to oversee basketball operations. He has been with the organization for more than a decade and has served as general manager since 2021. He is joined by assistant general manager Tim Brown Jr.<\/p>\n

Grant was with the Boom in Orlando, Fla., just before Christmas, for the G League Winter Showcase.<\/p>\n

Soon after joining the franchise, Grant said he felt strong alignment between the Pacers and Boom.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been unbelievable, right? We are one unit. We make decisions, and everybody falls in line, and we have support all the way up and down the organization,\u201d Grant said in November.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been fantastic. Coming here from a team where I was three and a half hours away from\u00a0\u2014\u00a0I ran the Iowa Wolves and was with the Timberwolves organization \u2014\u00a0(this is) really different. Here we have so much support, and it\u2019s made it awesome. It\u2019s how we can do what we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grant\u2019s departure leaves another leadership vacancy on the business side during a transitional stretch for the franchise. With a new brand and venue established, the organization now faces the task of maintaining momentum while again reshaping its executive structure.<\/p>\n
