The NBA has suspended Detroit Pistons<\/a> forward-center Isaiah Stewart<\/a> seven games for leaving the bench area and participating in a fight in Monday night\u2019s brawl-marred game against the Charlotte Hornets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The league also suspended\u00a0Hornets forwards Miles Bridges<\/a> and Moussa Diabate<\/a>\u00a0four games each for fighting and escalating the altercation which occurred midway through the third quarter.\u00a0 Pistons center Jalen Duren<\/a>\u00a0was also suspended two games for initiating the altercation and fighting, the league said.<\/p>\n

All four players were assessed technical fouls and ejected from the game. Stewart and Duren will begin serving their suspensions Thursday when the Pistons visit the Toronto Raptors<\/a>. Bridges and Diabat\u00e9 will also begin serving their suspensions Thursday when the Hornets host the Atlanta Hawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The league attributed Stewart\u2019s lengthy ban in part to his repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.<\/p>\n

The altercation began when Diabat\u00e9 committed a defensive foul on Duren with 7:09 remaining in the third quarter. Duren turned and confronted Diabate, and the two appeared to butt heads. Duren then pushed Diabate in the face with his open right hand. Stewart then left the bench to confront Bridges, who responded with a punch, and the players tussled. At one point, Stewart got Bridges in a headlock and delivered multiple left-handed blows to his head.<\/p>\n

The confrontation lasted more than 30 seconds and ultimately ended with a brief police presence on the floor.<\/p>\n

Duren later called it an \u201coverly competitive game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEmotions were flaring,\u201d he said. \u201cAt the end of the day, we would love to keep it basketball, but things happen. Everybody was just playing hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bridges took to Instagram late Monday night to say: \u201cSorry Hornets nation! Sorry Hornets Organization.!
