When watching Steph Curry<\/a> on the basketball court, fans marvel at his shooting and his ability to take over a game. What makes it even more impressive is that when on the court, Curry appears to be diminutive compared with others on the hardwood.<\/p>\n

However, 49ers tight end George Kittle realized that Curry\u2019s \u201cappearance\u201d was a facade when they first met.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first time I ever met Steph was actually at a San Francisco Giants baseball game. It really messed with my mental state. When I met him in Perth for the first time, I was like, ah, shoot. I\u2019m not that big. I\u2019m just not,\u201d Kittle said.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a hilarious take considering Kittle is widely seen as one of the NFL\u2019s larger skill players. While many understand their weights are far apart, their heights really caught Kittle off guard.<\/p>\n

Kittle checks in at 6-foot-4, while Curry isn\u2019t far behind at 6-2. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Curry is recovering from right patellofemoral pain syndrome, which is essentially runner\u2019s knee. While it\u2019s not considered serious or long term, the Warriors are being extra cautious with his return and planning to make a serious run at the postseason post All-Star break.<\/p>\n

As for Kittle, he\u2019s recovering from an injury of his own \u2014 albeit a little more serious.<\/p>\n

In the 49ers\u2019 NFL wild-card victory over the Eagles, Kittle suffered a torn right Achilles tendon<\/a>. After a successful surgery, Kittle is cautiously optimistic he could return for the 2026 NFL season, just eight months after the injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cSurgery went really, really good,\u201d Kittle said. \u201c(Dr. Neal) ElAttrache said best-case scenario when you tear an Achilles is that you tear it up high by your soleus, which is what I did. I had a clean tear. They didn\u2019t have to drill into my heel. And where the repair was there\u2019s more blood flow. And so it takes some time off of the recovery time \u2026 It\u2019s not as bad as other ones.\u201d<\/p>\n
