As always, speculation has surrounded LeBron James’ future all season.<\/p>\n

Following the trade for Luka Doncic, it seemed like James and the Los Angeles’ front office have had differing opinions.<\/p>\n

As a result, he’s been linked to depart from the Lakers<\/a> organization after eight seasons and one championship.<\/p>\n

While the 41-year-old could easily retire, many insiders aren’t quite sold that James would leave the NBA without warning.<\/p>\n

NBA insider Tim MacMahon cited Cleveland as a likely destination, saying<\/a>: “I certainly don’t know what he’s going to do. I know what the rampant speculation is around the league and that is this summer there’s going to be a reunion and potentially a retirement tour for the ages back home again with the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> next year.”<\/p>\n

In 11 seasons with the Cavaliers, James averaged 27.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists over 849 appearances.<\/p>\n

Not only would James’ return to his hometown for a second time be meaningful, it’d also give James and Cleveland one last chance at an NBA title run.<\/p>\n

Currently, the Cavaliers sit fourth in the Eastern Conference after earning the top-seed in the East last season.<\/p>\n

A trio of James, Donovan Mitchell and the newly acquired James Harden would certainly difficult to stop, not to mention Defensive Player of the Year award winner, Evan Mobley.<\/p>\n

Either way, only time will tell as LeBron nears the end of his career.<\/p>\n

Following Sunday’s All-Star game, James and the Lakers will return to action Feb. 20 against the Los Angeles Clippers<\/a>.<\/p>\n
