On Feb. 5, the Golden State Warriors parted with Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield in return for Kristaps Porzingis. Heild had become somewhat of a fan favorite with the Warriors, particularly for his often hilarious interactions with Jimmy Butler during pre- and postgame media conferences.<\/p>\n
Following his trade to the Atlanta Hawks, Hield shared a goodbye message on his Instagram account<\/a>. He joked that he would miss “almost” all of his teammates. The caption on the story post was clearly another joke aimed at Butler, with the pair both poking fun at each other at any given opportunity.<\/p>\n “I’m going to miss almost all of my teammates,” Hield wrote on his story, with a picture of some members of the Warriors roster sitting on the bench.<\/p>\n Hield joined the Warriors ahead of the 2024-25 season. He played all 82 games for the franchise during his debut campaign and was once again a key component of the rotation before his trade. In 44 games for the Warriors this season, Hield was averaging 8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists on 34.4% shooting from three-point range.<\/p>\n Trading Hield couldn’t have been easy for Golden State’s front office. However, if Porzingis can get and remain healthy, the skill set he brings to the rotation will almost certainly make the team better. All being well, we should see how much Porzingis improves Steve Kerr’s team once the Warriors are back to business following the All-Star break.<\/p>\n Need a news break?
