Barely into his first season with the organization, Miami Heat guard Norman Powell made it known<\/a> that he would like to be with the organization long-term. <\/p>\n

Now that we\u2019re at the All-Star break, the first-time All-Star hasn\u2019t had a change of tune.<\/p>\n

When speaking<\/a> with the Miami Herald\u2019s Anthony Chiang, Powell, 32, doubled down on wanting an extension with the organization when the time is right.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is definitely a place I want to be,\u201d he said.<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s been nothing but great. Coming here getting adjusted. The organization has been amazing. I love where I\u2019m at. I love the setup. I love the mentality. I love the approach.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully there\u2019s some good synergy from what they\u2019ve seen that I bring to the table. And hopefully a deal is able to be done sometime. But yeah, I see myself being here and being a part of the Heat organization for however long they\u2019ll have me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Norman Powell is having best season of his career with Heat:<\/p>\n

Powell is having a career season with Miami. Through 45 games, he\u2019s averaging a career-high 23.0 points on 47.4 percent shooting from the floor. Powell\u2019s also shooting 39.6 percent from 3-point range and 84.3 percent from the free-throw line. Should he keep this pace, he\u2019d end the season with the third-highest true-shooting percentage (61.6) of his career with the fifth-highest effective field goal percentage (56.3).<\/p>\n

When he\u2019s been on the floor, Powell\u2019s been the Heat\u2019s best offensive player. He can effortlessly break down a defense, get to the rim and, most importantly, get to the free-throw line. Teams routinely put their hand in the cookie jar, and he takes advantage.<\/p>\n

It will be objectively awesome to see Powell, in the final year of his contract, play in his first career All-Star game one year after Tyler Herro accomplished that same feat last year.<\/p>\n

Since he\u2019s on an expiring deal, the 6-foot-2 guard can re-sign at any point before the end of the league year. He will be pushing his mid-30s, so I\u2019m interested to see where the number ends up if the two sides can agree to a contract.<\/p>\n
