{"id":604661,"date":"2026-02-15T14:36:19","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T14:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/604661\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T14:36:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T14:36:19","slug":"ucla-basketball-plans-lineup-changes-after-michigan-beatdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/604661\/","title":{"rendered":"UCLA basketball plans lineup changes after Michigan beatdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANN ARBOR, Mich. \u2014 Change is coming for UCLA basketball.<\/p>\n<p>After the Bruins absorbed their biggest beatdown of the season Saturday, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/24\/sports\/mick-cronin-teaches-ucla-hoops-about-money-sense\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">coach Mick Cronin<\/a> said he would deal with the selfish tendencies hurting his team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be addressed with one lineup change, maybe more,\u201d Cronin said after UCLA\u2019s 86-56 loss to No. 2 Michigan at the Crisler Center.<\/p>\n<p>Could it involve a three-guard lineup <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/11\/sports\/ucla-basketballs-skyy-clark-could-be-nearing-return\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">now that Skyy Clark is back?<\/a> Less playing time for forward Eric Dailey Jr. after his latest disappearing act?<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38495195\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260214_szo_aa1_0020.jpg\" alt=\"UCLA coach Mick Cronin and guard Trent Perry\" class=\"wp-image-38495195\"  \/>UCLA Bruins head coach Mick Cronin talks to guard Trent Perry (0) in the first half against the Michigan Wolverines at Crisler Center. Rick Osentoski-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned.<\/p>\n<p>Something needs to be done after the Bruins tallied just one assist in the second half, a big reason they made 7 of 27 shots (25.9%). He\u2019s logged just one assist over his last three games combined and continues to be maddeningly inconsistent. On Saturday, he picked up two early fouls and finished with three points, two rebounds and zero assists in 14 minutes while also offering little resistance on defense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m searching for guys that will play for the team and not for stats,\u201d Cronin said. \u201cI thought we took some horrendous, horrendous shots today, and the whole game plan was do not take a bad shot or do not turn the ball over. There was a stretch (where) we did not do that and we looked like a really good team and then we started taking the bad shots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe California Post is here. Rick Osentoski-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>One player the Bruins won\u2019t want to take off the court is Perry, especially since Cronin has already begun lobbying to keep the emerging star next season. Clark will require some ramping up of his minutes, suggesting he might be able to handle his normal workload within a few games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to do whatever it takes to win,\u201d Perry said after scoring a team-high 14 points against the Wolverines. \u201cLike, I can\u2019t have a team 30-piecing us in an away game, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whatever Cronin decides, expect to see some changes when the Bruins face No. 10 Michigan State on Tuesday at the Breslin Center. The hope is that they lead to less selfishness \u2013 and frustration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m upset with some guys that I thought are conscientiously objecting to playing team basketball,\u201d Cronin said, \u201cso I\u2019m very frustrated with a few guys. But that\u2019s my job to address it, and I\u2019ll address it.
