Dylan Mingo<\/a>, one of the top prospects in the 2026 class, has a new commitment date. The five-star point guard will announce his decision on Tuesday, February 17th, he told Rivals. The announcement will be made on ESPN\u2019s First Take with Stephen A. Smith at 11:40 AM ET.<\/p>\n

Mingo, a 6-foot-5 senior out of Long Island Lutheran (NY), was originally planning to decide in January, but decided to push it back. He will now make his long-awaited decision. <\/p>\n

Rivals\u2019 No. 2 overall player and the No. 1 ranked point guard is set to decide between Baylor<\/a>,\u00a0North Carolina<\/a>,\u00a0Penn State<\/a>, and\u00a0Washington<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mingo talks finalists<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Rivals, Dylan Mingo broke down each of his finalists.<\/p>\n

Baylor:\u00a0\u201cHonestly, just because of their track record with guards, you know,\u00a0Tounde Yessoufou<\/a>, he should go first round this year.\u00a0VJ Edgecombe<\/a>,\u00a0Jared Butler<\/a>,\u00a0Davion Mitchell<\/a>, those are all great guards that went there and succeeded\u00a0and are doing good at the next level.\u00a0And then also just the relationship I built with them off the court.\u00a0They\u2019re strong believers in Christ, which I am as well.\u00a0And they\u2019re just always so positive and just great people to other people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mingo said he recently spoke with former Baylor guard and current NBA rookie VJ Edgecombe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe (Edgecombe) actually called me today,\u201d said Mingo. \u201cHe said, where are you going, bro?\u00a0I was like, I can\u2019t tell you all that yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

North Carolina:\u00a0\u201cHonestly, I feel like North Carolina, as a kid, I feel like pretty much everybody has to dream of playing there one day. It\u2019s a prestigious program, so just seeing how many players in the past have put on the jersey,\u00a0Michael Jordan, Joel Berry, players like that, have just done great there.\u00a0And if I do commit there, I would love to see me go on that same path one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Penn State:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ll just say the connection me and my brother had last year. And seeing how he led other people was amazing.\u00a0And seeing how he took a losing team to a winning team was crazy.\u00a0So I\u2019d definitely say playing with my brother. And then I\u2019ll say Penn State as a program, they\u2019re not really known for basketball.\u00a0So if I did happen to commit there and did change the basketball side of things, I\u2019d be a Penn State legend.\u201d<\/p>\n

What would it be like for Mingo to reunite with his brother and Nittany Lions guard\u00a0Kayden<\/a>\u00a0in college?<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be great,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cI feel like a lot of people don\u2019t have that opportunity. So I\u2019ll say it\u2019s a true blessing.\u00a0And it would be fun to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

Washington:\u00a0\u201cHonestly, just because how much I fell in love with Seattle. And on the court, Coach Sprinkle, I feel like they\u2019re building something great.\u00a0And I feel like it might take a couple years, but I feel like they\u2019re going to be really good in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

What did Mingo like about Seattle specifically?<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people say the weather is nasty, but I\u2019m more of like an inside person. Just being inside all the time.\u00a0I love that, I don\u2019t have a problem with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

What he\u2019s looking for in a school<\/p>\n

In that same previous interview with Rivals, Mingo discussed what he wants in his future college. <\/p>\n

\u201cFirst, I would say just a winning program. A coach that truly believes in me.\u00a0A coach and a coaching staff that believes in me.\u00a0A place where I can be off the court and I still feel comfortable at.
