When the NBA announced the new format for this season\u2019s All-Star Game, it\u00a0drew plenty of criticism<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But as the round-robin tournament featuring two teams of USA stars and\u00a0one of\u00a0international stars\u00a0was underway, plenty of praise came its way.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Former Warriors star and current NBPA executive director Andre Iguodala was among current and\u00a0former players to applaud the changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Iguodala credited NBPA\u00a0managing director and general counsel David Kelly for helping with the new format. Kelly also is a former Warriors executive, spending more than a decade with the organization as Chief Legal Officer\u00a0for the team\u00a0and Chief Business Officer of Golden State Entertainment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Iguodala also applauded Victor Wembanyama\u2019s performance on the\u00a0World\u00a0team.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wembanyama\u2019s\u00a0early effort in the first game of the tournament set the tone. He scored a game-high 14 points\u00a0and recorded three blocks in\u00a0the World team\u2019s 37-35 loss to the USA Stars team.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The World team was eliminated after a narrow 48-45 loss to the USA Stripes team. The USA Stars then cruised with a 47-21 win over the USA Stripes to win the tournament in the final game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other former NBA players joined Iguodala in praising the new format.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With the strength of international stars in the NBA and praise from former players, it\u00a0would not\u00a0be surprising if the league\u00a0kept\u00a0the format intact for next season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If they\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0keep the same format,\u00a0Steph Curry provided a suggestion<\/a>\u00a0on how to improve the competition level if the format returns to two teams.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Curry, he was\u00a0unable to compete in this year\u2019s All-Star weekend<\/a>\u00a0due to injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Aside from the acclaim the All-Star tournament format received, the other contests throughout the weekend received a lot of criticism. That might improve next season, as Curry said he\u00a0intends to return to next year\u2019s 3-point contest<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But if this season\u2019s All-Star Weekend proved one thing, the league have something to build on with the new format.\u00a0<\/p>\n
