Jabari Walker has carved out a spot for himself in the Philadelphia 76ers<\/a>‘ rotation after the Portland Trail Blazers<\/a> released him and the Sixers signed him on a two-way deal in the summer. He’s become a key component in Nick Nurse’s squad, averaging 12.1 minutes in the 45 games he’s played this season.<\/p>\n

Walker is putting up respectable numbers as a rotation option for Philadelphia this season, averaging 3.7 points on 40.3% shooting, 3.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists a game. His December 5 performance against the Milwaukee Bucks<\/a>, where he put up 18 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal, is a particular highlight.<\/p>\n

With the postseason approaching and the Sixers preparing for a late push for a better playoff position, they made a roster decision that will keep him in the team for quite some time.<\/p>\n

NBA<\/a> insider Shams Charania broke the news that the Sixers are interested in tying the 23-year-old to a two-year deal. He pointed to Walker playing all of the eligible NBA games in his two-way contract as a factor in the front office’s decision.<\/p>\n

Walker is an undersized power forward at 6’7″ and couldn’t stretch the floor with his 3-point shooting (27% this season). However, he proved himself valuable in defense and other aspects of the game, which is why the Sixers decided to keep him for two seasons.<\/p>\n

Nurse and the coaching staff are also banking on Walker’s continuous development.<\/p>\n
