The\u00a0Boston Celtics\u00a0have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA \u2013 the league that would become today’s NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of\u00a0Celtics\u00a0history.<\/p>\n

To commemorate the players who wore those numbers,\u00a0Celtics<\/a>\u00a0Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.<\/p>\n

With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest\u00a0Celtics<\/a>\u00a0to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.<\/p>\n

And for today’s article, we will continue with the first of two to wear the No. 86, big man alum Semih Erden. After starting his pro career abroad, Erden was picked up with the 60th overall selection of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Celtics.<\/p>\n

The Istanbul, Turkey native played the first 37 games of his pro career with Boston, coming to an end when he was dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011.<\/p>\n

During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Erden wore only jersey No. 86 and put up 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n
