His sweater carried a keffiyeh pattern and the strap of his bag had the Palestinian flag on it. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/blazers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Portland Trail Blazers;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Portland Trail Blazers<\/a> forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/topic\/deni-avdija\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Deni Avdija;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Deni Avdija<\/a>, the first Israeli-born player in NBA All-Star history, <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/articles\/blazers-deni-avdija-ends-unlikely-064850636.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-ylk=\"slk:took the floor as a starter;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\">took the floor as a starter<\/a> for Team World in his All-Star debut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DU4LyP_EqyB\/?igsh=M3N1ZnBwdWl6OXZ1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:an Instagram post;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">an Instagram post<\/a>, Lee offered \u201cmuch respect\u201d to Avdija and said no offense was intended.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThere has been some conjecture about what I wore to the games on Saturday and Sunday. The clothes I wore are symbols of my concern for the Palestinian children and civilians, and my utmost belief in human dignity for all humankind,\u201d Lee wrote. \u201cWhat I wore was not intended as a gesture of hostility to Jewish people or to support violence against anyone, nor was it intended as a comment on the significance of Deni being an All-Star.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Lee added that he had not been aware of Avdija\u2019s nationality beforehand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThere were 28 NBA players chosen to be in LA this weekend,\u201d Lee wrote. \u201cI didn\u2019t know them all and Deni playing for the Portland Trailblazers, a West Coast team, I didn\u2019t know Deni as the first Israeli born NBA All-Star.
