DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks have traded NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, according to reports.<\/p>\n
Anthony Davis Trade <\/p>\n
What we know:<\/p>\n
According to ESPN reports, the Mavs are sending Davis, along with Jaden Hardy, D\u2019Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum, to the Washington Wizards.<\/p>\n
In return, Dallas will reportedly get Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, two first-round picks, and three second-round picks.<\/p>\n
What we don’t know:<\/p>\n
The exact details of the trade have not yet been released.<\/p>\n
What they’re saying:<\/p>\n
Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban said he’s excited about the flexibility the deal will bring to the team.<\/p>\n
“Love it. While it’s tough to lose great players, this opens the door for us to have picks and flexibility to build around Coop,” Cuban told FOX 4’s Mike Doocy.<\/p>\n
Many fans are happy to be done with Davis’ time in Dallas. FOX 4’s Peyton Yager talked to several fans that were hopeful for the first time since Luka Don\u010di\u0107 was traded away.<\/p>\n
“As much as everyone wanted to welcome him. Under those circumstances, it just didn\u2019t work,” Garrett Bussey told Yager. “I think it\u2019s better for him and the fans. This whole past year has felt like one long nightmare.”<\/p>\n

Jake Rehfuss, who runs the social media account MFFL, told Yager the trade will open up more possibilities for the team this summer.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s best case for the one-year tank. Now we have $20-30 million this summer to spend to set us up to get good players this summer,” Rehfuss said.<\/p>\n
“He\u2019s only played in 29 of 83 games. I didn\u2019t think he was tradeable. I thought we would have to go with the contract into next season,” he continued. “It\u2019s a huge win.”<\/p>\n
Anthony Davis Injured <\/p>\n
The backstory:<\/p>\n
The Mavs have been in trade conversations regarding Davis ever since he injured his left hand on Jan. 8 in the 4th quarter of a road loss to the Utah Jazz.<\/p>\n
He was reportedly sidelined for several months, possibly through the end of the regular season, for hand surgery to repair ligament damage.<\/p>\n

The NBA trade deadline is on Thursday.<\/p>\n
