{"id":612266,"date":"2026-02-19T20:14:25","date_gmt":"2026-02-19T20:14:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/612266\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T20:14:25","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T20:14:25","slug":"two-way-rookie-john-tonje-to-sign-10-day-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/612266\/","title":{"rendered":"Two-way rookie John Tonje to sign 10-day contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Feb. 19, 2026, 2:23 p.m. ET<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The Boston Celtics on Thursday reportedly agreed to convert two-way rookie John Tonje to a 10-day contract, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The Celtics acquired Tonje from the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/basketball\/nba\/teams\/utah-jazz\/26\/\" data-autotag=\"b47c1f60-983a-4f05-b662-93d89a8ac7dc\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Utah Jazz<\/a> on Feb. 5 in exchange for Chris Boucher, a future second-round pick and cash considerations. The move helped the organization shed salary and get under the luxury tax ahead of the trade deadline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In addition to Tonje, the Celtics are also reportedly expected to sign Dalano Banton to a 10-day contract. The two signings will enable the team to reach the minimum roster threshold of 14 players, which they needed to meet by Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Tonje, the 53rd overall pick, signed a two-way contract with the Jazz after five seasons in college. He was a consensus second-team All-American last season at Wisconsin, averaging 19.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists on 38.8% shooting from 3-point range.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The 24-year-old has spent most of the season in the G League, averaging 18.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 37.1% from 3-point range in 34 games, including two with the Maine Celtics.
