(Kent Porter \/ The Press Democrat)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Healdsburg High School\u2019s girls basketball team is headed to its first North Coast Section semifinal contest since 2003 after Friday night\u2019s 35-28 home victory against Credo.<\/p>\n<p>The win gives the Greyhounds their third playoff victory in the last 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>Healdsburg was the fourth seed in the 2003 NCS playoffs when a 57-50 semifinal loss to No. 1 Ursuline ended the Greyhounds\u2019 season.<\/p>\n<p>This time around, Healdsburg \u2014 ranked No. 4 again, in Division 5 \u2014 will host No. 9 Gateway High School from San Francisco in Tuesday\u2019s semifinal game.<\/p>\n<p>Healdsburg head coach Cassidy Jourdan called her team\u2019s composure during Friday night\u2019s victory impressive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a pretty young team of girls that haven\u2019t had that many varsity games under their belt coming into the season,\u201d Jourdan said. \u201cThey look like leaders out there now \u2014 it\u2019s good to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Friday\u2019s quarterfinal matchup against the Gryphons did not start off great for Healdsburg, which fell behind 10-7 after the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe energy of playoff basketball is really fun and you can get carried away in that,\u201d Jourdan said.<\/p>\n<p>The Greyhounds were able to climb back to take a one-point lead into halftime, up 16-15.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody doesn\u2019t need to do anything spectacular or amazing out there. If everybody does their one job and does it well, we will be successful,\u201d Jourdan said. \u201cI think we really stepped to that and got our shoes back on the ground, our head back in the game to the second half.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By the end of the third quarter, Healdsburg led 24-20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur bigs played really good in the paint today,\u201d Jourdan said. \u00a0\u201cEverybody getting in there, getting big rebounds, trying to limit 24\u2019s game was a key going into this, and it\u2019s great to see that plan go into action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Credo\u2019s No. 24 is senior Reilly Fay, who finished with nine points, four steals and five rebounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe start revving a little late into games,\u201d Jourdan said. \u201cI would love to see us come out hotter with a little more fire from the first half.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amber Dhiman led the Greyhounds with 11 points, including three three-pointers.<\/p>\n<p>Healdsburg senior Amelia Wickersham, who had five points and four steals, said the Greyhounds had to adjust their game plan once the contest started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a game plan based on their defense and then they came out not playing that defense, so we had to improvise,\u201d Wickersham said. \u201cWe just played hard and it worked out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Greyhounds senior Meher Dhiman called the current playoff run the most memorable moment of her basketball career at Healdsburg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think our team chemistry is really good and to have that keep going throughout the season has been really special,\u201d Dhiman said. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to see where it takes us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Credo head coach Paul Lambrecht was proud of his team despite the loss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI loved how we came out early and let them know we were here for real,\u201d Lambrecht said of Credo\u2019s first quarter. \u201cOur intent and focus early set the tone that this was going to be four quarters of good basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Greyhounds\u2019 semifinal matchup with Gateway is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Healdsburg High School.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Amelia Wickersham of Healdsburg retains possession of the basketball away from Reilly Fay of Credo, Friday, Feb. 20,&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":616112,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3724],"tags":[7,160,3255,23386,29085,23392,66],"class_list":{"0":"post-616111","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-basketball","8":"tag-basketball","9":"tag-california","10":"tag-high-school-sports","11":"tag-north-bay","12":"tag-northern-california","13":"tag-sonoma-county","14":"tag-sports"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/channels.im\/@nba\/116109738821970399","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/616111","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=616111"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/616111\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/616112"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=616111"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=616111"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=616111"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
