After ending his college career at Southern Illinois, Carr was picked up with the 56th overall selection of the 1995 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns.<\/p>\n<p>The Ironton, Missouri native played the first season of his pro career with Phoenx. He would also play for the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/basketball\/nba\/teams\/minnesota-timberwolves\/16\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Minnesota Timberwolves;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> before he was dealt to the (then) New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/basketball\/nba\/teams\/brooklyn-nets\/17\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Nets;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Nets<\/a> in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>His stay with the team lasted until he signed with the Golden State Warriors that summer.
