CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) \u2014 Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball had 11 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a 105-101 loss to the Houston<\/a> Rockets on Thursday night, one day after being involved in a two-car crash<\/a> in Charlotte.<\/p>\n

\u201cFortunately everybody is cool, so blessings,\u201d Ball said of the crash following the game. \u201cGod is great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ball was driving through an intersection when his camouflage-colored, custom-made Hummer collided with another vehicle Wednesday, according to video obtained by WSOC-TV<\/a> in Charlotte. The station later posted video of Ball, wearing an aqua-colored Hornets hoodie<\/a>, getting out his truck and into a black Lamborghini before being driven away.<\/p>\n

Police were on the scene at the time.<\/p>\n

When asked why he left the scene, Ball said, \u201cNah, you gotta check in on that.\u201d<\/p>\n

A police report has not been made available.<\/p>\n

There was no information available on the driver of the other car involved in the collision, although video showed a person calmly get out of the car and begin walking toward Ball\u2019s truck after the crash.<\/p>\n

When asked about the other person, Ball said, \u201cI seen her get straight out of the car.\u201d<\/p>\n

Video showed the left front tire of Ball\u2019s truck was missing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m alive and blessed,\u201d Ball said. \u201cGod is great, like I said.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ball is just the latest professional sports athlete to be involved in a car crash in Charlotte.<\/p>\n

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton fractured his back<\/a> in a 2014 crash in which he flipped his pickup truck near Bank of America Stadium \u2014 less than a mile from where Ball\u2019s crash occurred.<\/p>\n

And in 2024, Panthers current backup quarterback Andy Dalton injured his thumb<\/a> when he was involved in a two-car crash in Charlotte.<\/p>\n

Former Hornets guard Bobby Phills was killed in a car crash at age 30 following a practice on Jan. 12, 2000.<\/p>\n
