However, worsening conditions across the New York metropolitan area \u2014 including widespread flight cancellations, suspended public transportation services, and hazardous road conditions \u2014 forced a change in plans.<\/p>\n

More than 5,000 flights across the United States were canceled Monday, with LaGuardia Airport among the hardest-hit hubs. Over 1,000 departures and arrivals at LaGuardia were scrapped as heavy snowfall and sustained winds created unsafe operating conditions. Regional transit systems, including NJ Transit and portions of New York City\u2019s subway network, also suspended or significantly reduced service.<\/p>\n

The situation has effectively created what amounts to a travel-window game for Tuesday\u2019s matchup between the Mavericks and the Brooklyn Nets. With both teams currently out of market \u2014 Dallas in Indianapolis and Brooklyn in Atlanta \u2014 each club must secure viable flights into New York within a narrow window between improving weather conditions and scheduled tipoff. It remains to be seen if it\u2019ll occur. <\/p>\n

Head coach Jason Kidd<\/a> acknowledged the uncertainty following Sunday\u2019s 134-130 win over the Indiana Pacers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou might not be able to get there \u2014 so it\u2019s all good. I\u2019m joking,\u201d Kidd said. \u201cThe weather \u2014 I don\u2019t know why we\u2019re going to be affected and you\u2019re going to be affected. Tomorrow\u2019s going to be a long day. We can\u2019t leave until the evening and there\u2019s no guarantee. We\u2019ve been in this situation before. Hopefully we can get out and get to New York. The Nets were unable to depart Atlanta on Monday and are planning to attempt travel Tuesday morning. The Mavericks now face a similar delay, opting to remain in Indianapolis rather than risk being stranded mid-transit.<\/p>\n

Players echoed Kidd\u2019s assessment that patience may be required as conditions evolve.<\/p>\n

P.J. Washington<\/a> acknowledged the logistical frustration while keeping perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not really too happy about it,\u201d Washington said. \u201cI don\u2019t think anybody wants to stay the night here. It is what it is. We\u2019ve been dealing with stuff like that the whole year. Just hope we get there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Khris Middleton<\/a> also anticipated a lengthy delay as the team waits for improved conditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, long day,\u201d Middleton said. \u201cIn the East and Midwest, you deal with snowstorms once in a while. The last couple years they\u2019ve been coming down on us. Hopefully this is the last one. Thankfully I didn\u2019t deal with that much in Dallas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mavericks are scheduled to face the Nets on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. CST at Barclays Center, assuming the game proceeds as planned. As of Monday evening, the game remains on the NBA schedule, though the evolving impact of the New York City blizzard leaves its status contingent on travel viability.<\/p>\n

For now, Dallas will practice in Indianapolis, monitor conditions, and await further guidance from the league office as both teams attempt to navigate one of the most severe winter disruptions of the season.<\/p>\n
