UTAH \u2014 The Utah Jazz<\/a> are dealing with a host of injuries that could conveniently land them a top-eight pick and ensure they keep their pick in June\u2019s draft. On Monday night, the list of players in the treatment room grew by two more. Multiple reports confirmed the Jazz will be without Vince Williams<\/a> and Jusuf Nurki\u0107<\/a> for the rest of the season. This begs the question: who\u2019s left standing on the depth chart?<\/p>\n

Williams Jr. suffered a significant ACL injury during the Jazz\u2019s game against Houston on Monday night, according<\/a> to Sarah Todd of the Deseret News. Officials ruled him out for the remainder of the game after a gruesome left knee injury in the first half. The injury occurred after Tari Eason<\/a> hip-checked Williams on a fast-break drive. Williams\u2019 knee bent in the wrong direction as he tried to steady himself after the collision. Staff helped him off the court before carrying him into the locker room. He later left the arena on crutches.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Head coach Will Hardy did not mince words about the play. \u201cThat\u2019s not basketball,\u201d Hardy said. Meanwhile, Keyonte George<\/a>, who is also dealing with an ankle sprain, offered a calmer perspective. \u201cEverybody\u2019s gonna have their own opinion,\u201d George said. \u201cThese plays\u2026 just a freak accident.\u201d Regardless of the interpretation, the team has now absorbed another season-ending injury.<\/p>\n

Frontcourt Takes a Major Hit<\/p>\n

Earlier reports confirmed the Jazz will sideline Jusuf Nurki\u0107 for the season following nose surgery. He now joins Jaren Jackson Jr<\/a>. and Walker Kessler<\/a> on the list of long-term absences. These injuries strip Utah of key contributors in the frontcourt rotation and leave the roster dangerously thin in the paint. It also pushes them closer to retaining the pick they owe the Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a> in June\u2019s draft.<\/p>\n

A Depleted Depth Chart<\/p>\n

Utah must now rely on a reshuffled rotation across multiple positions. The injuries have forced younger players into larger roles while veterans attempt to stabilize the lineup. A lot of players are fighting for their long-term future with the team and, frankly, for some, in the NBA. There\u2019s a lot for Jazz fans to monitor down the stretch, despite the team\u2019s tanking efforts.<\/p>\n
