In fact, it says a lot about Oklahoma City being a competitive squad even without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a>, Jalen Williams<\/a>, Chet Holmgren<\/a>, and Isaiah Hartenstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jaylin Williams\u2019 Career Night Was Long Due<\/p>\n

Jaylin Williams<\/a> is one of the best backup bigs for the Thunder<\/a>. In the previous season, he\u2019s been enduring the same type of games without the OKC big three. But in three of those games, J-Will was posting Nikola Jokic<\/a>-esque performances with a triple-double and leading the team<\/a> to victories. This Thunder vs Pistons showdown was no different, as he was the team\u2019s leading scorer.<\/p>\n

Williams finished with a career-high 30 points on 9-14 shooting, including five made threes. He also had 11 rebounds and four assists. This comes as a very impressive outing from the Arkansas product, considering that he was limping across the court in the first quarter with a twisted ankle. Had it not been for his grit, Branden Carlson<\/a> would have been the only big man left for OKC for the rest of the game.<\/p>\n

Instead, we saw why the Thunder have decided to keep him over Ousmane Dieng<\/a>, who was gone by the Trade Deadline<\/a>. J-Will embodies the team\u2019s culture, and he certainly knows how to step up whenever his number is called to play big minutes.<\/p>\n

In the last three games, we have seen Cason Wallace<\/a> come up with increased production for the Thunder. He\u2019s playing more minutes, coming up with more highlights than expected. With both SGA and Ajay Mitchell<\/a> missing some key time, Wallace is definitely stepping up<\/a>. We saw him elevate his playmaking, as evidenced by his superb game against Cleveland. He also had an all-around game against the Raptors.<\/p>\n

So for Wallace to deliver yet another impressive outing<\/a> in the Thunder vs Pistons clash, that\u2019s a big win for OKC. The Kentucky guard is showing his worth as a reliable playmaker in his own right. The way he plays even mirrors both SGA\u2019s impressive shot-making and J-Dub\u2019s ability in playing through contact. At this point, one can expect that Wallace will continue to improve his skills. This is the time for him to shine, and he\u2019s making the most of it<\/a>.<\/p>\n
