Anthony Edwards went into takeover mode late on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Clippers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And at first, Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> head coach Chris Finch yelled at Edwards to pass the ball. He wanted him to make the right basketball play. Ant didn’t listen, at least not exactly.<\/p>\n

The next possession, with the Wolves up one, Edwards took on multiple defenders, dribbled all over the left side of the floor, ended up in the left corner with two guys staring at him, stared right back, rose up and drilled a 3-pointer.<\/p>\n

He definitely wasn’t thinking about passing.<\/p>\n

And when a timeout was called, he appeared to let Finch hear about it just a bit, too:<\/p>\n

Edwards opted to decide the game himself, and he did.<\/p>\n

The Timberwolves ended up winning, 94-88.<\/p>\n

“Me and my coach got the best relationship ever,” Edwards told reporters<\/a> after the game. “I mean, he be right most of the time — 98% of the time, he be right. He told me to pass the ball tonight, and I should have passed it, but I shot it instead. And it went in. The basketball gods was on my side tonight.”<\/p>\n

Edwards finished the night with 31 points and five assists. He made 12-for-24 shots from the field, including 2-of-6 from 3-point range, while going 5-for-6 at the foul line.<\/p>\n

He has developed into one of the NBA’s true superstars, and it’s in winning time that the best players are expected to be at their best.<\/p>\n

Edwards isn’t opposed to passing. He’s actually a sneakily good distributor. But on this night, he chose to take the game into his own hands, and he didn’t let it get away.<\/p>\n
