Converting Nembhard to a standard deal always seem like the right move, but the Mavericks had congestion on their roster and couldn\u2019t find a spot for him until now. Dallas has had to play Nembhard sparingly in order to not hit the maximum game limit defined by the NBA\u2019s CBA, which would have led to Nembhard becoming a free agent.<\/p>\n

Nembhard came to the Mavericks last year after being undrafted. The rookie out of Gonzaga is averaging 6.7 points, 4.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 37.9% from 3-point range in 38 appearances with the team.<\/p>\n

This came on the heels of Nembhard playing out of his mind. He scored in double figures in a season-high four consecutive games from Dec. 1-6. During that stretch, he put up a historic achievement<\/a> against the Denver Nuggets, becoming the first undrafted rookie to record at least 25 points and 10 assists in a game without a turnover. He finished the game with 28 points, 10 assists, and three rebounds, going 4-of-5 from deep.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is just a blessing to be with this group of guys,\u201d Nembhard said<\/a> at the time. \u201cA great group we have here. I just put in my work every day, stay consistent with that, and if you do that, good things will happen. It was a fun night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now Nembhard will be with this group until the end of the season with no limit on his playing time. His playmaking will definitely be a help to the Mavericks as they continue to develop Cooper Flagg.<\/p>\n
