{"id":631643,"date":"2026-03-01T04:57:49","date_gmt":"2026-03-01T04:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/631643\/"},"modified":"2026-03-01T04:57:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-01T04:57:49","slug":"magics-anthony-black-wins-devos-community-enrichment-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/631643\/","title":{"rendered":"Magic&#8217;s Anthony Black wins DeVos Community Enrichment Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/02\/27\/orlando-magic-houston-rockets-paolo-banchero-desmond-bane-jevon-carter-kevin-durant-reed-sheppard-nba-pistons-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Black<\/a> was named the winner of the 2025-26 Rich &amp; Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award on Saturday night at the Orlando Wine Festival and Auction benefiting the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omyf.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Orlando Magic Youth Foundation<\/a> held at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time the third-year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/02\/27\/orlando-magic-houston-rockets-paolo-banchero-desmond-bane-jevon-carter-kevin-durant-reed-sheppard-nba-pistons-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Magic<\/a> guard has won the award. Finalists included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2026\/02\/27\/orlando-magic-houston-rockets-paolo-banchero-desmond-bane-jevon-carter-kevin-durant-reed-sheppard-nba-pistons-kia-center-jamahl-mosley\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paolo Banchero<\/a>, Wendell Carter Jr., and Franz and Moe Wagner, according to the team.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1995, the DeVos family has honored a player who has dedicated his efforts off the court for the purpose of enhancing other\u2019s lives. A panel of representatives selects the player and based this year\u2019s selection on the last year of the player\u2019s community work.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to receiving the award, Black will be granted $20,000 from the DeVos Family Foundation for him to donate to the charity of his choice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom and Dad\u2019s legacy continues to live on through the meaningful work of the entire Magic organization throughout Central Florida,\u201d Magic chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2025\/06\/25\/orlando-magic-alex-martins-charlie-freeman-devos-family-nba-jeff-weltman\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dan DeVos<\/a> said. \u201cThis is especially evident in the dedication of our players, and we are proud to congratulate Anthony with this year\u2019s honor for his care for this community and his ongoing commitment to especially serve, and assist, children and families across Orlando.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Black has consistently volunteered his time off the court and to the Central Florida community and beyond. In addition to supporting the Magic\u2019s programs, Black is committed to his \u201cAB Cares\u201d initiatives. Through \u201cAB Cares,\u201d Black has created multiple touchpoints and programs to positively impact the Orlando community, while assisting the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omyf.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OMYF<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2025\/06\/25\/orlando-magic-alex-martins-charlie-freeman-devos-family-nba-jeff-weltman\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NBA<\/a> in their community goals as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAB Cares\u201d was created by Black and his family as a way to give back to programs focused on sports-based mentorship and academic support.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation says it \u201cstrives to create a world where every life has the chance to shine with a bold vision to ignite transformation and to plant seeds of hope that will flourish for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Magic\u2019s commitment to the community is rooted in the leadership of our ownership group, the DeVos family,\u201d Magic president of business operations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2025\/06\/25\/orlando-magic-alex-martins-charlie-freeman-devos-family-nba-jeff-weltman\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Charlie Freeman<\/a> said. \u201cTheir genuine passion for giving back sets the tone for our entire organization, from staff and coaches to our players. Redick (\u201911-12, co-winner with Howard), Jameer Nelson (\u201912-13), Tobias Harris (\u201913-14, \u201914-15, co-winner with Oladipo), Victor Oladipo (\u201914-15, co-winner with Harris, \u201915-16), Elfrid Payton (\u201916-17), Arron Afflalo (\u201917-18), Aaron Gordon (\u201918-19, co-winner with Isaac), Jonathan Isaac (\u201918-19, co-winner with Gordon), Markelle Fultz (2021-22), Carter Jr. (\u201922-23), Cole Anthony (\u201923-24) and Banchero (\u201924-25).<\/p>\n<p>The OMYF is committed to helping children in Central Florida realize their full potential, especially those most at-risk, by supporting nonprofit organizations offering youth-based programs in the areas of education, housing\/homelessness, the arts and health programs focused on preventing childhood obesity, the team said.<\/p>\n<p>The DeVos family recently showcased their ongoing commitment to the OMYF through a $400,000 pledge which encompassed all family stakeholders, including the third generation, who are increasingly involved in the franchise, the team said.
