Mohamed Diawara seems to have reestablished himself in the Knicks rotation.<\/p>\n

He recorded 14 points on 5-for-14 shooting from the field in 15 minutes during the 114-89 win over the Spurs on Sunday<\/a> at Madison Square Garden. <\/p>\n

Of those 14 shots, 13 were 3-pointers.<\/p>\n

Those 14 shots were the most he\u2019s taken in a game this year. <\/p>\n

And those 14 points were tied for second most.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody was like \u2018keep shooting and take your shot,\u2019 \u201d Diawara said. \u201cThe whole team told me to shoot, for real.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the Knicks signed Jeremy Sochan during the All-Star break<\/a>, coach Mike Brown had suggested that Diawara\u2019s minutes might have to be sacrificed in order to give playing time to Sochan and see where he fits before the postseason. <\/p>\n

That happened for a few games, but Sochan did not make much of an impact with his workload.<\/p>\n

And now, Diawara is back on top in the pecking order.<\/p>\n

Sochan did not play until garbage time Sunday. <\/p>\n

And Sunday was the second straight game Diawara got significant minutes and impressed \u2014 he recorded 10 points in 22 minutes during the rout of the Bucks on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst thing I would say, Mo is not afraid,\u201d Brown said. \u201cFor a young guy, I\u2019ve thrown him out there in games, to start, on national TV and he didn\u2019t bat an eye. He might\u2019ve started three games in a row, then he might not have played at all the fourth game. He doesn\u2019t bat an eye. He\u2019s the most confident young man I\u2019ve been around. He\u2019s got a chance to be, not good, [but] good-good. He\u2019s worked extremely hard on his shooting, because like you saw tonight, teams play off of him.\u201d<\/p>\n

More and more, though, he\u2019s made opponents pay for not respecting his 3-point shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time the ball touches his hands, I\u2019m yelling at him to shoot it,\u201d Landry Shamet said. \u201cI want that kid to stay aggressive. Obviously, we know how raw and talented he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sochan was facing his old Spurs team, which drafted him with the No. 9 overall pick in 2022, for the first time since they waived him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hope for Jeremy, for me personally, was just that he got the opportunity he was looking for,\u201d Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said before Sunday\u2019s game. \u201cI hope he makes the most out of the opportunities that he\u2019ll get, that present themselves for him. Hopefully that\u2019s here [with the Knicks].\u201d<\/p>\n

Karl-Anthony Towns surpassed 16,000 career points in Sunday\u2019s win. <\/p>\n
