St. Joe\u2019s Basketball (19\u201310) fought off a relentless rally by Rhode Island (15\u201314) for a 61\u201355 at the Ryan Center<\/a> on Saturday. Rhode Island opened the contest with a 9\u20132 run and the Hawks responded with a 14\u20132 to take a 16\u201311 of their own<\/a>. St. Joe\u2019s led at the half<\/a> 30\u201327.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the second half\u200a\u2014\u200athe Rhode Island defense stopped St. Joe\u2019s for five minutes during a second half stretch<\/a>. The Rams did pull within one point at 56\u201355 before the Hawks scored another<\/a> five points to win the game 61\u201355. Dasear Haskins scored fourteen points for the Hawks<\/a> and Derek Sampson added thirteen for St. Joe\u2019s.<\/p>\n

St. Joe\u2019s next game is at Davidson on March 4th. With an A10 record<\/a> of 11\u20135\u200a\u2014\u200aeach March game is critical<\/a>for St. Joe\u2019s if they are to gain a bid to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.<\/p>\n
