Steph Curry<\/a>\u2019s injury absence has sparked plenty of debate about whether the Warriors should simply shut their star down for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

Draymond Green<\/a> doesn\u2019t see that happening.<\/p>\n

Speaking on a recent episode of “The Draymond Green Show<\/a>,” the Warriors forward pushed back on the idea that Curry would sit out the remainder of the season if he\u2019s physically able to return.<\/p>\n

“Shutting Steph down for the rest of the year is not something that is just going to happen barring that he can play,” Green said.<\/p>\n

Green pointed to a previous season as proof of Curry\u2019s mentality.<\/p>\n

He recalled the 2019-20 campaign — when he, Curry and former Golden State teammate Klay Thompson missed time with injuries — and shared that Curry was preparing to return late in the season despite the team\u2019s record.<\/p>\n

At the time, the Warriors only had won 15 games, but Curry still wanted to finish the season on the court.<\/p>\n

“He was preparing to come back in the season where we had won 15 games,” Green explained. “So I say that from experience when I say, he’s not just going to shut it down just to shut it down. It’s not who he is.”<\/p>\n

Curry currently is sidelined with right patellofemoral pain syndrome, commonly known as runner\u2019s knee, and the Warriors announced on Sunday that he will be re-evaluated again in 10 days<\/a>, meaning he will miss at least five more games.<\/p>\n

Even if the Warriors\u2019 playoff position remains uncertain, Green believes the organization<\/a> — and Curry himself — won\u2019t embrace the idea of tanking.<\/p>\n

“I can also assure you Joe Lacob isn’t going to tank,” Green added. “He’s never going to take that approach if it’s hard to win games when you don’t have Steph Curry, when you don’t have Jimmy Butler. <\/p>\n

Green acknowledged how difficult the Warriors\u2019 offense has been without their two star players.<\/p>\n

“An entire offense is built around Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler,” Green said. “You don’t have those two guys. You’re essentially trying to, on the fly, completely change your offense.”<\/p>\n

For now, Green emphasized that the focus remains simple: compete while waiting for Curry\u2019s return.<\/p>\n

“All you can do is continue to fight, make sure you’re maintaining and building good habits,” Green noted. “Try to give yourself a chance to win these games.”<\/p>\n

And while Green acknowledged Curry won\u2019t return immediately, he remains hopeful the Warriors\u2019 star will be back before long.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully Steph’s back soon,” Green said. “That obviously won’t be anytime in the next week or two. So we’ll see. But we’ll just keep fighting and plugging away.”<\/p>\n
