Former NBA power forward Lamar Odom<\/a> reveals he experienced \u201cthe afterlife\u201d after his 2015 overdose at a Nevada brothel, in new Netflix documentary premiering this month.<\/p>\n

In the film\u2019s trailer<\/a>, released on Tuesday, Odom stated that \u201cthe afterlife is not what people make it out to be,\u201d and disclosed he suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks during the incident, People reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Odom overdosed on cocaine and other drugs in October 2015, after being found unresponsive at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada, The Guardian reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two-time NBA champion\u2019s story is featured in \u201cUntold: The Death and Life <\/a>of Lamar Odom,\u201d which premieres March 31 as part of Netflix\u2019s documentary series exploring four gripping sports stories that extend beyond the playing field, Netflix Tudum<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

Odom\u2019s ex-wife Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian appears in the documentary and reveals she \u201cfelt such a responsibility to cover this up and protect him\u201d during their marriage, recalling how he \u201cwould escape rehab and go on a drug bender and no one could find him,\u201d Entertainment Weekly<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

During his nearly 15-year NBA career, Odom played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Miami Heat, according to ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The documentary features revelations from Odom about his cocaine addiction, with the former Lakers star admitting \u201cthat first hit of cocaine was amazing\u201d but acknowledging \u201cyou unlock a vault that you can\u2019t really control,\u201d Netflix Tudum reported.<\/p>\n

The film is directed by Ryan Duffy and also includes interviews with the former manager of the Love Ranch brothel where Odom overdosed, as well as Odom\u2019s former Lakers teammate Metta Sandiford-Artest<\/a>, who recalls Odom \u201cwas living a rock star lifestyle,\u201d Entertainment Weekly reported.<\/p>\n

Odom\u2019s appearance in the documentary comes weeks after his January 2026 arrest for alleged DUI in Las Vegas, following which he checked into rehab for marijuana addiction out of concern it could lead to a relapse into harder drugs, People reported.<\/p>\n
