As the organization pivots to a rebuild, understanding which players are likely to remain part of the Grizzlies’ roster next season provides insight into the franchise’s evolving blueprint.

Memphis has already begun leaning toward youth, development, and long-term upside. Several players currently on the Grizzlies’ roster fit that philosophy perfectly. That is either because of their production, their developmental trajectory, or their value while being on smaller contracts. While roster decisions can change quickly in the NBA, these five players appear to have the clearest path toward remaining part of the Grizzlies’ roster heading into next season.

Projecting the Future of the Grizzlies’ Roster: Players Likely to Stay
Zach Edey

One of the clearest long-term fixtures on the Grizzlies’ roster is Zach Edey. He only played 11 games this season, but was clearly the most important player in those games. Due to that, the organization remains committed to developing him as a foundational interior presence.

Edey provides something few teams possess. His elite size, combined with strong rebounding instincts, interior scoring ability, and rim protection, provides stability at center. His presence as a reliable interior anchor addresses one of Memphis’ most persistent needs. Health is his biggest concern, but he is expected to heal from his second ankle surgery for next season.

Cedric Coward

Another player likely to remain on the Grizzlies’ roster is Cedric Coward, whose two-way potential has generated increasing intrigue. Coward fits the modern NBA prototype as a versatile wing who can defend multiple positions while contributing offensively.

Coward’s physical tools and developing offensive game make him an ideal candidate to become their primary perimeter scorer. As the Grizzlies continue evaluating, Coward’s versatility likely makes him a strong candidate to remain part of the Grizzlies’ roster.

Jaylen Wells

Jaylen Wells quickly became one of the more dependable contributors on the Grizzlies’ roster unexpectedly during his rookie season in 2024-25. He was drafted 39th overall as a depth and development piece, but became a mainstay starter by his sixth career game.

For a player selected in the second round, Wells has exceeded expectations through consistent effort, defensive reliability, and improved offensive confidence. That reliability makes Wells one of the safer bets to remain on the Grizzlies’ roster as the franchise continues evaluating its next core.

GG Jackson

Few players on the Grizzlies’ roster possess the raw scoring upside of GG Jackson. Jackson’s breakout flashes have reminded the organization why they were high on him entering last season. At just 21 years old, Jackson still has significant room to develop.

Memphis understands that young scorers with his size and offensive instincts can eventually become high-impact players. He just needs time and opportunity. Because of that upside, Jackson remains one of the most logical long-term bets to remain on the Grizzlies’ roster.

Cam Spencer

Few players have elevated their standing in Memphis more quickly than Cam Spencer. Known primarily for his shooting, Spencer has proven capable of providing instant offense off the bench while stretching opposing defenses.

Shooting remains one of the most valuable skills in today’s NBA, and Spencer’s consistency from deep strengthens his case to remain on the Grizzlies’ roster. As Memphis evaluates its roster for next season, keeping a reliable shooter with Spencer’s confidence and efficiency makes practical sense.

© Jerome Miron-Imagn Images

The Grizzlies’ roster is entering an important transition, and several young players appear poised to remain key pieces…

[3795
7,8675,3522,1265,294,2597,293,177,4070,6,1083
0":"post-653406","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-memphis-grizzlies","8":"tag-basketball","9":"tag-cam-spencer","10":"tag-cedric-coward","11":"tag-gg-jackson","12":"tag-grizzlies","13":"tag-jaylen-wells","14":"tag-memphis","15":"tag-memphis-grizzlies","16":"tag-memphisgrizzlies","17":"tag-nba","18":"tag-zach-edey
["GET
